Kono and Tohu Wines is a Māori-owned family business, with approximately 4000 owners, who descend from the customary Māori land-owners of the top of the South Island. Our wine business is guided by a 500-year plan focused on preserving and enhancing the taonga (treasured possessions) of land, people, and culture for future generations.

Tohu Wines is the world’s first Māori owned wine company. Since 1998 we have focused on creating internationally acclaimed wines from specific sub regions in New Zealand’s premier grape-growing regions, wines of ‘place’. Our home is in the Awatere Valley of Marlborough.

Kono Wines are wines of ‘style’. Playful, vibrant and true expressions of carefully selected vineyards in the Marlborough and Nelson regions.
